'A Hot Set' Shifts The Purpose Of The 'Media Stats' Column

A Hot Set changes the direction of the monthly column ‘Media Stats’ from covering media platform data to focusing on the monthly viewing averages for all reality-based television programming ​​across broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms.

This new direction of the ‘Media Stats’ column expands the unscripted coverage across all reality TV genres and is divided into four subsections of content. To start, the docuseries subsection covers multi-episode television documentaries that air in a limited series or seasonal format. Next, the docusoap subsection focuses on unscripted soap-style series that follow the interpersonal lives of tightly connected groups of people that focus on unscripted soap-style series that follows the contestant subsection targets process of elimination competitive series and audience participant traditional game shows. After that, the court subsection highlights sensationalized syndicated courtroom programs. Finally, the lifestyle subsection brings attention to contemporary recreational and domestic programs related to food and wine, home and garden, real estate and home improvements, health and wellbeing, travel and leisure, beauty, and shopping.

This updated version of the ‘Media Stats’ column is designed to offer readers a comprehensive understanding of the viewership landscape for unscripted reality programming featuring people of color.

The ‘Media Stats’ column is published on the third Wednesday of each month, starting with the first column available now on A Hot Set’s platform.
