'A Hot Set's' Resources Portal Highlights POC-Related Streaming Platforms

A Hot Set presents the streaming platforms that are changing the face of representation for scripted and unscripted film and television media for people of color via the “Streaming Services” section of the digital entertainment trade publications Resource Portal.

The streaming platforms listed fall into three categories:

  1. POC-Owned. Represents American streaming platforms founded and entirely owned by POC as well as media outlets acquired and now owned by POC.

  2. International. Represents streaming platforms owned and operated by POC outside of the United States.

  3. Non-POC Owned. Represents streaming platforms targeting POC that were created by non-POC media entities or formerly POC-founded and owned streaming platforms that were acquired by non-POC media entities.

The “Streaming Services” section of the Resource Portal highlights such video-on-demand platforms like the Lemuel Plummer-founded The Zues Network, the American expansion of the Japanese company Rakuten Group Inc streaming division with Rakuten Viki, and the extension of Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group subsidiary company The Weather Group’s brand Local Now. Where a diverse array of niche and general audience programming is leading the digital content revolution.
