‘A Hot Set’ Welcomes New TV Editor Hugmaelle Jean
Continuing the expansion of the entertainment trade publication A Hot Set is pleased to welcome Hugmaella Jean as she assumes her new role as TV Editor and will further oversee quality content development.
Jean began honing her talents with the written word in 2020 as she earned a bachelor’s in media studies and communications. She is furthering her education by pursuing a master’s in publishing with a focus on digital and print media.
Her career began with a variety of media-related roles starting in 2018 when she was a community outreach worker at 826 Boston. From there she transitioned into marketing as an intern for the Boston Realty Group. Rounding out her repertoire she additionally served as the head photographer at NuShine Studios from 2020 to 2021.
Editor-in-Chief Kirk Navarro welcomes Jean to the new position,
"The written word, as it should, is among the initial aspects of a project that is often examined when determining the professional competence of the hands behind every typed sentence. A comma misused, a sentence running on, putting the I before the E in “receive”—mistakes so minute, so seemingly inconsequential to the untrained eye, that can be what prevents a business deal from going through, what keeps the graduate’s dissertation from earning him the ACM Doctoral Dissertation Award, what muddies the credibility and respect of a news source where perfection in informational accuracy, grammar, syntax, and structure are expected from the intellectually-associated profession.
But one editor alone among a team of writers can only do some much to ensure no errors or inaccuracies squeeze their way to the website homepage to be met by scrutiny by thousands of annoyed readers. Human imperfection cannot breed perfection 100% of the time.
Therefore, it is with great pleasure and relief that such a task can be shared with A Hot Set’s newest editor, Hugmaelle Jean. With her Master’s-level knowledge and four years of experience in communications and digital and print media publishing working as a photographer for Nushine Studios and as a marketing director for the Boston Trust Realty Group, the team at A Hot Set is anxious to welcome another editor who will work to publish the news of people of color in the entertainment industry with perfection and accuracy."
Under Jean’s tutelage, she will oversee the coverage of all scripted and reality TV media as well as guide the coverage of theater and web series content. With her leadership, A Hot Set will continue to produce engaging content that connects readers with the global world of entertainment media.
